The Smith School Computer Use Policy

10/6/2009 11:44:29 AM

The Smith School is proud to offer our students high-speed Internet access in every classroom; however, it must be understood that this convenience is provided for ACADEMIC PURPOSES ONLY.  Students connecting to the Internet during Computer Science class, or using "floater" laptops during study hall are only allowed to type papers,  conduct academic research or retrieve school-related  information from personal accounts.

Our school operates in an environment of trust, and violations of this trust are taken seriously by the administration.  Therefore, any student who is caught accessing inappropriate material--including, but not limited to: personal networking sites (i.e. Facebook, Twitter or Myspace), instant messaging services, music downloading sites and explicit or offensive material of any kind--shall be deemed in violation of the School's Computer Use Policy, and banned from non-essential computer access for a period of not less than thirty (30) days.
